How to Succeed in Evil by Patrick E. McLean

How to Succeed in Evil is not a self-help page for the maladjusted. It it is the story of Edwin Windsor, Evil Efficiency Consultant. He's like Arthur Andersen for Supervillains.

    are these the new version?

  2. They’ve all been podcasted before. I’ve just collected them together into a convenient carrying case.

Apologies if the traffic from my metafilter post is to blame for your bandwidth woes.

    Dear Mr. McLean,

I just read the Five Chapter Preview, and I’m hooked. While the core idea of a consultant to superheroes, or in this case supervillains, isn’t completely new terrain, the concept is intriguing and well-executed. (Wow, this sounds stilted, doesn’t it?) It’s very professionally written and it cuts right to the point. No superfluous paragraphs, the grammar is good, so you obviously know how to write and you edited this thing.

But unfortunately the PDF text is full of misspelled words. For example, “it’s” instead of “its” and “Carolignian” instead of “Carolingian”. That’s not a mere typo because it turns up three or four times in the space of a single paragraph. (Maybe you used a macro shortcut that contains a typo?)

I have only become aware of your site today when I followed a link from Nodwick.com, so I don’t know anything about the story yet beyond the teaser. But the protagonist is definitely someone I’d love to hate. And I have a soft spot for smart supervillains.

I hope the complete & revised text will be available as an e-book or PDF file. I prefer readable texts to podcasts or audiobooks, as I can read and process text much faster than someone else can read it aloud, and I therefore usually lose interest when I have to slog through a podcast. Also, I’m from Germany and reading an English text is easier than having to deal with someone else’s pronunciation.

I’ll definitely be back for more.

    regards,
    Christina

Okay folks, the good news is the mass download problem is fixed. The bad news, if you want convenience you’ll have to pay for it.

You can get the entire book for free by right clicking 72 times and saving each file. Otherwise it’s $15 bucks for for a speedy bandwidth download from drop.io. (And a bargain at twice the price)
