I’ve written three books in a series called How to Succeed in Evil. It’s about an Evil Efficiency Consultant named Edwin Windsor. They are about a guy who tries to help villains be more villainous and profitable. The books are fun, people like them, they won a Parsec award, all good. But all the while, I’ve had this nagging thought in the back of my head. A tiny little voice whispering “non-fiction book.” And a non-fiction book with the title “How to Succeed in Evil” sounds like a pretty great thing, right?  But what is it?

A Self-help guide for the Mal-adjusted? Another book in the same vein as the “Supervillain Handbook” or “How to Take Over the World”? Maybe it’s the Seven People you will Meet in Hell?

I just don’t know what the finished product will be. But I know there’s something in there. So, I’m going to talk to the smartest people I can get to return my emails. Those conversations will become podcast episodes. I’m also going to write essays and villain profiles. And I’m going to create original short works of fiction using the characters from How to Succeed in Evil. After all, Edwin, my main character is an Evil Efficiency Consultant. Who better to interview?

In short, I’m going to throw the kitchen sink at it. And, a year from now, I’m gonna to compile the best parts of that sink into a book.
